The LA electro-pop band MUNA had one of 2021's most irresistible hits with "Silk Chiffon," an ode to queer crushes that featured a guest spot by Phoebe Bridgers. Now, the group's new full-length album is out on Bridgers' label, Saddest Factory Records. MUNA kicks off this week's discussion, which highlights what already feels like one of 2022's most irresistible hits: the liberation anthem "What I Want."
We've also got new albums from R&B singer GIVĒON, country star Jimmie Allen, rapper Lupe Fiasco, Soccer Mommy and more. On this week's New Music Friday, Keanna Faircloth (host of the Artimacy podcast), contributor Christina Lee (co-host of the Bottom of the Map podcast) and NPR Music's Marissa Lorusso join guest host Stephen Thompson.
