We at Audible Treats stand in solidarity with the protesters across the country who seek justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others. As a company, we are developing a concrete plan of action to combat the deleterious effects of systemic racism and police brutality. Currently, our team members are donating to just causes, marching in the streets, speaking out in public and private, and further educating ourselves about America's racist past and present so that we are better equipped to call out injustice when we recognize it.

We take our role seriously as a conduit for amplifying voices and stories that tend to be ignored by the mainstream media. As for our day-to-day work of publicizing our artists and their stories, we’re working closely with them to find a balance between their need for artistic expression and their solidarity with the protest movement.

There is strength in numbers. Here is a resource that lists ways you can take action: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/

No justice, no peace. Black Lives Matter.

TikTok Treats, Week Of June 15th

A Weekly Roundup Of Interesting Music Stories From the World of TikTok - This Week Brings the Best Of TikTok's #BlackMusicMonth Initiative

The News:
Audible Treats is excited to work with TikTok, the world’s leading platform for music discovery. Each week, TikTok Treats will bring the platform’s best music stories directly to your inbox.

As people continue to be active in support of Black lives, TikTok remains committed to amplify their voices. Posts with the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag have generated more than 10.8 billion video views, whether they’re documenting memorable moments from the movement or seeking to educate users about anti-racism.

In an effort to promote the platform's endlessly creative Black community, TikTok celebrates #BlackMusicMonth, offering special programming to celebrate and highlight Black artists' contributions to music and to the platform, enlisting prominent Black artists for "Sound Offs,"  promoting the #BlackMusic hashtag, creating a #BlackMusicMonth playlist, and spotlighting emerging artists and their music with special in-app promo banners (including Chloe X Halle, Sech, Saint JHN, and others).

Below are some highlights from the first half of #BlackMusicMonth
  • One of the artists spotlighted by TikTok during the month, R&B duo Chloe X Halle pioneered #KeepingItCute, encouraging fans to strut their stuff to the tune of their song "Do It." Generating over 3 billion video views, "Do It" soundtracked make-up routines, hair-stylings, and even keyboard constructions.

  • Snoop Dogg became even more active on TikTok, posting multiple times over the past week, bringing his total follower count to 1.6 million. The legendary rapper is a natural creator, proving that there's no age limit on TikTok fun. Watch him document his quarantine cooking, and just as importantly, the subsequent clean-up.

  • Veteran superstar Ludacris joined TikTok only a few months ago, but he's already building a big following. The Atlanta native recently used his account as a platform to push messages of social justice, highlighting an important message from Kid Nation calling for everyone to get along in support of #BlackLivesMatter

  • Rising rapper Kierra Luv is using TikTok to grow her following, posting over a dozen videos that range from everyday problems (like your girlfriend throwing out your food) to broader societal issues (she strikes back at haters in her comments who question her gender and sexuality).

  • She only joined TikTok in April, but Atlantic Records signee Kirby has already made a massive impact! Her recent video about the history of Aunt Jemima went viral, racking up over 1.8 million views and contributing to Quaker Oats’ decision to discontinue the brand. The singer is an active supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement on her TikTok page.

  • TikTok user @Rynnstar isn't a professional singer, but her catchy ditty about over-policing and systemic racism is spreading like wildfire in the TikTok community. With over 850 video creations using her sound, some with a gentle harp accompaniment, Rynnstar's message is being used to educate ignorant parents and soundtrack pole dances
With #BlackMusicMonth, TikTok acknowledges and thanks the black creators and artists who make the platform so vibrant. Whether it’s used for fun or for education, TikTok is proud to stand with the Black community, and will continue to do its part to create a supportive community and foster a space where everyone is seen and heard.
